AGET 150 Tailgate Template

General Instructions:

Your tailgate topic should be planned to take 3-5 minutes.  It should be able to be presented in the field (hence the name "tailgate" topic) with the piece of equipment.  Complete the form below then click on a button to create a handout either in HTML or Word format.  Word format can be have additional formatting, spell checking, and pictures inserted after it is saved to your hard drive.   You should be able to identify any part or operation of the equipment discussed in the presentation.  For example if you discuss a ROPS you should be able to identify this part of the equipment.  Tailgate Resources Check the course calendar for the presentation schedule and additional assignment requirements.

Background:

Include background information on the topic for the instructor (you).  Some questions you might answer are:
  • Why is this topic important? 
  • What is the scope of the problem (ex. accident statistics). 
  • Who is likely to have the problem? 
  • When it is likely to occur?  

List additional resources (i.e. publications/web sites).  Include any resources needed to present the topic (visual aids, etc.).  Remember this is a safety topic not a history or a guide to operations (other than safe operations). You will not read this section as part of the presentation, rather you should be familiar enough with the background information to paraphrase its contents and get the interest of your audience.
